My dear Transforming Rotarians,
On March 20, 2021, I released an advisory to disallow any in-person meetings or events due to the alarming rise of Covid19 cases in Central Luzon and NCR. Our last in-person meeting was with RC Jaen on March 27 at the residence of Charter President Atty Sylvester "Vester" Austria. This was the first in-person meeting of the then proposed club and since we all needed to accomplish charter documents that is why I allowed this meeting to happen despite my directive. This meeting happened after completing the 5 Saturdays of Rotary Information Sessions via zoom.
After the said event, our family followed the IATF recommendations to voluntarily isolate ourselves until the Covid19 cases subside. Regardless of our safety measures, in May, my wife, Tina, my son, Karl, and I got infected and tested positive for Covid19. We followed the protocols of being quarantined for 14 days, treated at home, and been closely monitored by the City Health Office staff. Thank God we are now healed, and I got my first shot of Covid19 Vaccine.
After my recovery, I had the opportunity to present a video of our Districts' accomplishments during the Rotary Concerns Forum hosted by the Philippine College of Rotary Governors held in a blended event at Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort and via Zoom. District Rotary Foundation Chair PDG Pichoy Ramirez, District Membership Chair PDG Corina Bautista, and District Public Image Chair Rtn. Luwee Karl Carrasco also attended the forum. I was asked by host PDG Ambo, "What attributes to our remarkable performance?" I answered it is our careful planning and collaboration that makes all our projects successful. It was evident that in all departments, District 3770 surpassed goals and broke records.
On the same forum, I was elected as Vice-Chair for Luzon PCRG to serve on RY 2021-2022. And since February, I and other District Governors and Past District Governors became a part of the Taiwan- Philippines Inter-Country Committee where I was also elected as Vice-Chair for Luzon in the Taiwan-Philippines ICC. District 3461 headed by DG Eyes and District 3770 headed by this Governor formally inked our Sister Districts Agreement and plans on doing joint projects in the future. Currently, we are working on the completion of the Great Britain/Ireland-Philippines Inter-Country Committee. This opportunity to serve is initiated by DG ChaCha Camacho of District 3830.
All our district's recognition belongs to every Rotarian that embodies our purpose of putting Service Above Self, especially at these challenging times.
Again, thanks for all of your efforts, and stay safe. See you at our DISCON!
DG Dindo O. Berino
District 3770
